About ISTS

Name:

The name of the society will be Indian Society of Tree Scientists (ISTS) Regd.1981, College of Forestry, University of Horticulture and Forestry, Solan, HP.

Headquarters:

The head quarters of the Society shall ordinarily be situated at Dr.Y.S.Parmar University of Horticulture and Forestry, Solan-173230 HP. India or at a place as determined by the Governing Body.

Objectives and Membership

Objectives:

1. To advance and spread the knowledge of tree sciences in all aspects publishing a journal and holding meetings, symposia, memorial lectures etc.
2. Society may institute awards/medals to honour person(s) who have made outstanding contributions in tree sciences.
3. To bring under one platform, tree scientists, professional foresters and other interested in the activities of the Society.
4. To project the importance of trees in the overall economy of the country and their role in preserving the ecological balance in nature.
5. To provide technical know how to forest based industries
6. To provide technical know how to rural people for planting fodder, fuel, fibre, fruit and fast growing trees in order to promote small scale industries in general and dairy industries in particular.

Membership:

1. Persons actively involved in research or interested in trees or their natural products.
2. Industrialists, commercial or other organizations dealing with forest wealth/products or associated fields.
